Finnish Midsummer approaching
Tomorrow is Midsummer Eve here in Finland and the city is already starting to empty out. You can feel it in the grocery store queues, in the quieter streets, in the way conversations at work keep drifting toward cottage plans and which lake is best for a morning swim.
Midsummer in Finland is less of a holiday and more of a full evacuation. Oulu empties. Helsinki empties. Everyone goes somewhere with a sauna and a dock, and the sun just doesn't set — it dips toward the horizon around midnight, turns everything amber and pink, then climbs right back up. The weather seems to be pretty typical Midsummer weather this year; going between +15-20°. That's fine.
No special Midsummer plans this year personally. Staying in the city, but relaxing at home. Maybe grill some nice Midsummer meal or two. Gyms should be pretty quiet, so good time to go put in a gym session or two. Rest of the week is the kind that doesn't demand much from you and you don't demand much from it. Just chill.
Finished the last episode of Widow's Bay yesterday as well as Project Hail Mary. Widow's Bay was a pleasant surprise and Project Hail Mary lived up to the hype. From is on the watchlist for this evening — specifically episode 8 of season 4.
Now, off to that long and winding grocery store queue...
